Individuals and companies that own the rights to certain intellectual property protected by copyright or trademark have the legal right to limit the ways in which that intellectual property can be used by others.
Over the last several years, many owners of copyrights and trademarks have contacted TurboSquid to request that we remove from the site any models that depict their trademarked or copyrighted intellectual property. Because TurboSquid complies with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, we take the affected models offline when we receive a takedown notice from rights holders. You can see a complete list of takedown notices we have received here: http://www.turbosquid.com/restrictedcontent
In some cases, it is possible to sell models depicting trademarked and copyrighted materials if the models are sold under an Editorial Royalty Free License. The Editorial Royalty Free License allows purchased models to be used for news-related purposes, for example, but not for commercial projects. We encourage you to read the FAQ about our Editorial License here: http://support.turbosquid.com/entries/171069-editorial-royalty-free-license-frequently-asked-questions#Edlicense
After you have read about the Editorial License, you may want to review your product(s) that we have taken offline to see if it might be appropriate to offer them under an Editorial License. If so, you can put your models back online by following the instructions.
Certain products may depict restricted content that is only available under the Editorial License type, you will need to change the license type for your product before you are able to activate the content.
To do this, log in to your Falling Pixel account and select Edit Assets from the menu bar.

Assets that are currently offline will display a crossed out red circle in the status column. To activate a product click on the product thumbnail or the item name.
Products that depict restricted intellectual property, for example models that depict copyrighted or trademarked materials, will display a warning message above the “activate” and “preview” page buttons.

We currently do not allow you to activate a model that depicts restricted intellectual property if the product is listed under a Standard Royalty Free license. If you would like to put the model back online under an Editorial Royalty Free License, please select that license type for the product.

Utilising ready-made 3D content can save a great deal of time and indeed money in the creative development process.

Modelling a vehicle will often be a very different workflow to modelling organic objects such as characters. Not every artist has the necessary skill to do both well, again this can be challenging, especially for smaller studios.
3D models are a powerful digital medium; the content can be manipulated, positioned and rendered in very high resolution. The content can be integrated into existing projects for use as hero piece, background object and anything in-between, due to this there is a large number of individuals, companies and organisations who are interested in purchasing 3D models for use in visual projects.
3D models are used in a diverse range of projects, below is a list of a few common examples:
